A special welcome to all the new Toucans and especially the new members of the class who are also new to Rocklands! We know you are going to have a great time.

We are all very excited about the new  school year and looking forward to experiencing lots of new things and making progress in all areas. 

On our class page you will find all the information you need about Toucan Class. Please take the time to have a look.

We are looking forward to theme days and 'Active Learning' and have lots of exciting activities planned for the new year.

Summer Term 2021

 This term our topic is 'The Great Outdoors'. We are looking forward to getting outside and having lots of fun!

Toucan Home Learning - Spring 2021

We will still be following our topic of Awe & Wonder for this term.

Work will be accessible on twitter (@classtoucan), Rocklands website (home learning page & Toucan page), and BBC bitesize.

There is no expectation that you complete any of the work set, it is there if you want it. I have planned the activities with your children in mind and activities will be differentiated where possible.

We are thinking of you and your children and love to see what they are doing at home. If you can, please send photos to let us see what they are doing.

What are we learning in Toucans this term?

Home School for Toucans

In this section you will find ideas to keep your Toucans busy at home. As I stated in your home-school pack that was sent home, our Toucans are not used to worksheets. We learn through play wherever possible. Our twitter page is updated whenever possible with ideas too. Please feel free to send us pictures of what you are doing at home!

As a mum I am seeing a lot on social media about parents trying to home school their children and feeling like they are battling with their children to do 'school work'. Equally there are stories of families that are doing a great job educating their children at home. I do not want to put my families under that pressure. Your home, first and foremost, is your child's safe place. Below is a weekly plan that you can interpret in your own way. Please have fun with your child/ren!

Week commencing: 13/07/2020

Well Toucans, we are coming towards the end of our Road Trip...and what a road trip it has been. We have all been on our own personal journeys this half term - adults as well as children. I'd like us to finish the Road Trip topic, and school year, by reflecting on our journeys.

I have uploaded documents to help you make your own memory books. 

The children in my school bubble will be using photos to make their memory books but maybe you could add some work that you are proud of, draw a picture that reminds you of your time during lockdown as well. Maybe something special happened during - for example, you may have had a birthday in lockdown, you could include this too!

Hannah, Becky, James and I all have lots of happy memories of our time with you in Toucan Class this year. We all wish you lots of happiness and fun in your next class in September. :)
